Anticoagulation and Acid-Base Disorders in AKI Requiring CKRT
Description
Continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) is often used in the management of critically ill patients with acute kidney injury, particularly those who are hemodynamically unstable. These patients often exhibit disorders in acid-base status. In this seminar, experienced faculty will provide insight into patient- and treatment-associated factors contributing to such disorders and potential measures that may help guide appropriate clinical management. Reducing therapy downtime requires effective anticoagulation, which should be carefully managed to meet therapeutic goals and avoid exacerbation of underlying disorders or introducing new complications. Our expert panel will discuss key underpinnings of the management of patients receiving CKRT and common challenges related to anticoagulation and acid-base management. This interactive discussion will feature case presentations and provide you with an opportunity to ask questions regarding your own challenging scenarios related to anticoagulation and acid-based management in critically ill patients with AKI.
