Hemocompatibility During ECMO: Technical Considerations, Monitoring, & Management
Description
Ensuring hemocompatibility is crucial to safely perform Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) without complications like clotting and bleeding. Key technical considerations include selecting biocompatible materials for ECMO components and optimizing flow dynamics to reduce shear stress. Monitoring involves regularly checking coagulation markers, platelet counts, and haemolysis indicators to detect and manage thrombotic or bleeding events. Observing circuit components, flow- and pressure changes during treatment and if necessary, replacing components can avoid complications and improve device performance.
Continuing Education Credits
All webinars are eligible for continuing education (CE) credits. Registration is required to receive CE credits. Please click the Register button above (if applicable, this button only appears for an upcoming course) to create an account (if necessary), and register for this session.
