ECMO for Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR)
This On-Demand lecture will discuss ECMO for ECPR. PLEASE NOTE: CE credits not available for viewing this recorded webinar.
Description
Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) is the application of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in patients where conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CCPR) measures are unsuccessful in achieving a sustained return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). The purpose of ECPR is to restore the circulation and gas exchange, hence, by providing organ perfusion, it provides time for the delivery of interventions necessary to regain an adequate native circulation. The presentation will focus on evidence for ECPR mainly in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), patient selection, emergency medical service and initial hospital system requirements and postresuscitation care.
