The eighth module in our Critical Care series is designed for healthcare professionals interested in critical care education.

Description

This replay of a recorded module, led by Dr. Luis A Juncos Senior Director Critical Care, Global Medical Office/Medical Affairs, Fresenius Medical Care, focuses on the critical aspects of catheter management in Kidney Replacement Therapy (KRT).

You will learn about:

  • characteristics of different catheters used in KRT, including their design, length, and size based on the insertion site
  • how to differentiate between catheter dysfunction and failure, understanding the implications for therapy efficacy and patient outcomes
  • how access characteristics affect circuit life, and explores the complications associated with decreased circuit longevity
  • guidance on assessing catheter tip placement using chest X-rays, highlighting markers of optimal positioning

This comprehensive review aims to enhance practical skills in catheter management and troubleshooting, improving overall KRT effectiveness and patient safety. Included in the presentation will be interactive polling questions and a chance to engage with critical care experts during a live Q&A session.
